Sexual violence was declared a global epidemic by the United Nations in 2013.  Art, Activism, and Sexual Violence reflects a unique perspective on this scourge by combining creative work, in multiple genres, with analyses of the historical and cultural contexts of sexual violence from intersectional feminist perspectives. The book demonstrates the power of artistsas victims, survivors, and alliesto combat sexual violence through artistic expression.  It inspires readers to action, mutual recognition, resistance, and resilience.

The book launch will highlight:

  • Art’s transformative power—through quilts, social media images, paintings, dance, and drama;
  • Social structures that support—even encourage—sexual violence;
  • The impact of U.S. gun culture—especially during the COVID lockdown—on promoting the deadliest outcomes of sexual violence.
