ASU Annual Alumni Band 2024 Event

Hey Sun Devils!

Are you ready to grab your instrument and help the Sun Devil Marching Band cheer on your Sun Devils against UCF? Your Devil’s Horns leaders are hard at work planning a memorable Alumni Band event for Alumni of all generations!

This year, in a special tribute to our past director Dr. Robert "Coach" Fleming, our Annual Alumni Band event will be held the weekend of November 9, during the Sun Devils' game against the University of Central Florida (UCF), instead of the usual Homecoming weekend. We chose this date to accommodate the larger-than-usual number of Alumni expected to join us as we celebrate Coach’s life and legacy. Moving the event to this date allows us to honor Coach appropriately, without the logistical challenges of Homecoming weekend.

There are several participation level options to choose from. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:

• Marching Group – Be part of the marching block, learn the drill, attend the game, play in the stands, and perform at halftime. All rehearsals are MANDATORY.
• Sideline Squad – Same as “Marching Group”, but instead of marching in the block at halftime, you will play from the sideline. This is a good option for those who cannot attend the Friday marching rehearsal or who do not wish to march the drill. The Saturday rehearsal is required. (NOTE: The Sideline Squad participation option IS NOT the same as Spirit Squad.)
• Stands Only – You want to attend the game and play in the stands, but will not be on the field at halftime.
• Tailgate Only – You are not able to attend the game or participate in the band, but would like to join us at the tailgate before the game.

Registration fee includes this year’s shirt for participants, tailgate ticket, and entrance to watch the Sun Devils take on the UCF Knights! Admission to the game will require the current year's name tag and shirt (no, you can’t wear your shirt from 1986).

This year we will once again be offering a "Shirt Only" registration option for those who cannot participate but would like to buy a shirt. We're also allowing participants to purchase extra shirts. Please note that since the current year's shirt is part of our identification for admission into the game, extra shirts and "Shirt Only" shirts will not be available until after Homecoming. The price includes shipping.

Tickets to our tailgate party once again will be available to friends and family for $20 per person if purchased in advance. We may have a limited number of tickets available at Friday's rehearsal for $25 per person.

Due to longer lead-time requirements from our t-shirt vendor, this year we will have a shorter registration window than usual. THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS OCTOBER 13.

Registration through 11:59 p.m. (Arizona time) on Sept. 29, 2024, is $35 (additional charge for shirt sizes XXL and larger).

Registration from Sept. 23 through Oct. 13 will be $45 (additional charge for shirt sizes XXL and larger) and may be limited based on availability.

REGISTRATION CLOSES ON OCTOBER 13.

Friday, Nov. 8

   · Alumni Band Marching Rehearsal – REQUIRED for all “marching group” participants

            Location:  ASU Band Field

                Time: TBD, but probably 4 - 6 p.m.

   · Alumni Band Music Rehearsal – REQUIRED 

            Location:  ASU Band Field

                Time: TBD, immediately following marching rehearsal, probably 6 - 8 p.m.
 

Saturday, Nov. 9 (All times TBD)

   · Marching/Music Rehearsal – ASU Band Field (REQUIRED for all participants)

   · Tailgate – Sparky’s Touchdown Tailgate, 6th St & College Ave

   · Game (Kickoff time TBD) with Halftime performed by The Sun Devil Marching Band and the 2024 Alumni Band!
 

Sunday, November 10

   · Picnic and Coach Fleming remembrance (Optional) – Family welcome

            Location:  Kiwanis Park

                Time: TBD
