Event description

The ASU Symphony Orchestra kicks off its season with a program that spans centuries and moods — from Grażyna Bacewicz's punchy, rhythmic Overture to Jessie Montgomery's vibrant, folk-inflected Strum, capped by Brahms's inventive Variations on a Theme by Haydn, alongside Prokofiev's thunderous, fiendishly virtuosic Piano Concerto No. 2, featuring world-renowned pianist and ASU faculty member Cathal Breslin. The concert is a showcase for ASU's musicians, guided by Alejandro Gómez Guillén, ASU's newest Director of Orchestras, bringing precision, energy, and fearless artistry to some of the repertoire's most demanding and rewarding works. It's a night of drama and discovery for classical music lovers and newcomers alike.

Repertoire:
Grażyna Bacewicz: Overture
Sergei Prokofiev: Piano Concerto No. 2 (Cathal Breslin, solo piano)
Jessie Montgomery: Strum
Johannes Brahms: Variations on St. Antoni Chorale
