The ASU Worldbuilding Initiative invites you to join us during Humanities Week to welcome our Fall 2023 Worldbuilding Distinguished Lecturer, Connor Alexander, lead designer of the award-winning tabletop roleplaying game Coyote & Crow!
In this interactive lecture and workshop, Connor Alexander will first introduce the world of Coyote & Crow, a sci-fi and fantasy tabletop role playing game set in a First Nations alternate future where colonization never happened, detailing the inventive and collaborative work that went into the game's design and launch. Afterward, he will lead participants in a character creation workshop where students and other audience members can make their own Coyote & Crow characters to take home with them, working in collaboration with Connor Alexander, the Akinana Circle live play team and other members of the audience.
About the ASU Worldbuilding Initiative
Hosted by the Lincoln Center for Applied Ethics, the ASU Worldbuilding Initiative invites all members of our community—at ASU and beyond it—to come together in mutual inspiration, communal thinking and imaginative play. This event is free and open to the public, either in-person on the Tempe campus or via livestream.
About the Artist
Connor Alexander is a proud citizen of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma. Born in California, he currently lives in Seattle. A nerd since he was old enough to watch classic Star Trek reruns and a punk since he was able to buy his first pair of Doc Martens, Connor spent years wandering around Turtle Island through a myriad of careers, finally settling into a degree and career in film and television. In 2014, he took his first steps into working in the hobby game industry and hasn’t looked back. He’s worked for a game store, in-game distribution, and since starting Coyote & Crow has been awarded multiple awards for Coyote & Crow, including the Diana Jones Award for Excellence in Gaming.
Coyote & Crow is a multiple award-winning and nominated sci-fi and fantasy tabletop role-playing game, created and led by an all Native team. In March 2021, Coyote & Crow became one of the most successful role-playing games to ever fund on Kickstarter, raising more than $1 million dollars. Coyote & Crow Games is a tabletop game publisher dedicated to bringing fantastic games to your table while also raising the voices, ideas, perspectives and imagination of Indigenous creatives throughout the game industry.
