Beyond the Ivory Tower: A Roundtable on Writing for Public Audiences

Event description

  • Academic events
  • Free
  • Open to the public
  • Professional and career development

Universities produce knowledge for the public good. But most scholarship remains inaccessible to audiences beyond the ivory tower.

This is especially true for critical social science — the kind of scholarship that could have a transformative effect on the ways we interpret the world, but is frequently labelled as abstract and unactionable.

In this roundtable, participants discuss their experiences writing for and engaging with public audiences on topics including environment and energy, inequality, democracy, and racial and ethnic minority politics.

Light refreshments will be provided.
