Civil Dialogue on Public Assistance Programs

Event description

  • Free
  • Health and wellness
  • Inclusion
  • Open to the public

With a trained facilitator, volunteers will consider a provocative statement on public assistance programs that support health (such as SNAP, etc). They will then embody a position ranging from "agree strongly" to "disagree strongly," allowing us to connect with differing views and practice intentional listening. Attendees will gain critical skills in respectfully discussing difficult topics.

This event is hosted by the Health Policy and Equity Network and the Council for Inclusive Excellence in partnership with the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation.

The Civil Dialogue format utilizes the expertise of a trained Civil Dialogue facilitator who will select volunteers from the audience to participate in the discussion to consider the issue. Sharing opinions and questions is encouraged. By using the tenets of Civil Dialogue, we can better understand each other’s perspectives & model intentional listening behavior.
