Community Conversations: A Look Inside ASU Gammage

Join arts leader Colleen Jennings-Roggensack and university archivist Shannon Walker in conversation for an inside look at ASU Gammage. From the vision of Grady Gammage to the design by architect Frank Lloyd Wright, ASU Gammage is a “truly distinctive university auditorium” in the heart of ASU’s Tempe campus. As ASU Gammage prepares to celebrate 60 years in 2024, hear fascinating stories from the past six decades and how University Archives preserves the stories of ASU’s visionary leaders and distinctive buildings.

Colleen Jennings-Roggensack, arts leader and visionary is Vice President for Cultural Affairs for Arizona State University and Executive Director of ASU Gammage. Jennings-Roggensack established the ASU Gammage organizational mission of Connecting Communities™ which allows ASU Gammage to go beyond its doors to make a difference in the community through the shared experience of the arts. As Arizona’s only Tony Awards® voter and Vice Chair of the Road for the Broadway League Board of Governors, Jennings-Roggensack has made a lasting impact on the Valley and nationally through arts advocacy. 

Shannon Walker is ASU’s University Archivist. She collects, organizes, preserves, and makes accessible materials that document the history of Arizona State University. Walker’s primary responsibility is responding to requests for information, research, and duplication. In addition, she facilitates the selection and acquisition of new or transferring archival collections. She is committed to cultivating and maintaining relationships with departments on campus, as well as alumni, donors, and community members and she is continually looking for opportunities to promote collections and services through outreach and engagement. Shannon received her MLIS from the University of Denver and has a dual-degree in history and anthropology from the University of Colorado-Boulder.

Community Conversations features library experts in conversation with community members and seeks to gain a deeper understanding of the resources and wide array of services available at the ASU Library.
