Despite an urgent need for climate action, many systemic resistances continue to complicate a complete energy transformation. From powerful fossil fuel interests to governments failing to enact policy changes, climate reform can often feel like an elusive goal. For the everyday consumer, embracing lifestyle changes to help mitigate one’s carbon footprint can be difficult to implement when the systems set in place fail to support or are contrary to that implementation. To what extent do macroeconomics inform embedded resistances? How can we – as a global society – overcome these resistances and enact swift and actionable climate reform?

Students are strongly encouraged to attend to learn more about the Institute for New Economic Thinking (INET) and potential opportunities through the Young Scholars Initiative.
