Join the Labriola National American Indian Data Center for a conversation with the current American Library Association (ALA) President Cindy Hohl.

Hohl is a member of the Santee Sioux Nation and is the second Native American to hold the position. She is also past president of the American Indian Library Association and past recipient of ALA’s inaugural Spectrum Changemaker Award.

Hohl will lead a panel discussion with Indigenous scholars, who are in the field of Library and Information Science, to uplift the role of libraries in Tribal communities. The panel will explore how Indigenous libraries and librarians can support Indigenous Data Sovereignty goals and processes. From culturally-informed curation of library materials to ethical digital storage, to culturally responsive education resources, speakers will share their experiences of applying Indigenous librarianship for Tribal sovereignty.

The panel discussion takes place in the Labriola Center at Hayden Library. Lunch to follow for in-person attendees. Register today to attend online or in-person.
