Event description

Create digital geographic models for 3D printing using desktop GIS software and free web tools.
Join the ASU Library Map and Geospatial Hub for a hands-on workshop focused on creating digital 3D geographic models ready for 3D printing.
The session will begin with demonstrations of free, web-based data extraction services that quickly generate 3D-print-ready files from publicly available geospatial data.
We will then move into more advanced Geographic Information Systems (GIS) workflows using raw geospatial datasets for greater control, refinement, and customization. Participants will explore modeling approaches using two major desktop GIS platforms:
- QGIS (free and open source)
- ArcGIS Pro (proprietary and licensed)
