Just When You Thought It Was Safe: Reimagining Health Literacy in Uncertain Times

Event description

  • Free
  • Health and wellness

Health literacy levels among African Americans and other communities of color necessitate a conversation and an understanding of information-seeking behaviors and the obstacles communities of color face in assessing health-related information. The title of this discussion, taken from the tagline of the “Jaws 2” movie sequel, places health literacy in context and within the dynamics of our current times while centering the challenges of reimagining solutions and possible models to help inform and address limited health literacy and its impact on health outcomes in the political, cultural and socioeconomic miasma of uncertainty and change.

Hear from Olga Davis, president and CEO of Davis Communication Group and professor emerita of the ASU Hugh Downs School Of Human Communication, on this highly relevant topic. Davis’s lecture will be followed by an opportunity for questions and a 30-minute mixer. We hope you join us for this event presented by the College of Health Solutions and Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation.
