How can spatialized audio and immersive visuals transform live music performance?
Live Beyond Stereo reimagines the concert as an embodied, dimensional experience rather than a flat one. Presented by Professors Sven Ortel, Rodrigo Meirelles and Jorge Costa, this immersive event invites audiences into the Enhanced Immersion Studio at the ASU Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) Center for a night of experimental sound and spatial storytelling.
The 90-minute program features three local artists, Sophia Humbert, JKitten and Sophia Bavishi, each exploring the studio’s advanced audio and visual capabilities. The experience includes a 55-channel Meyer Sound Spacemap GO system and multi-channel video projection, designed to place the audience inside the music.
An immersive DJ set will extend the experience between performances.
This event is part of Arizona Tech Week, a statewide series that brings together innovators, creators and the broader tech community.
Research
This performance is part of an ASU Herberger Institute for Arts and Design research grant that explores how immersive audio-visual technology can elevate musical performance.
