Please join us for Dr. Martin Picard's seminar on "Mitochondrial Psychobiology in the Brain and Immune System"
The basis of the mind and complex behaviors is the flow of energy – through networks of brain
neurons and across every organ system. The flow of energy primarily occurs in the thousands
of mitochondria that populate the inside of every nucleated cell in the body. This presentation
will discuss emerging approaches to study the mind-mitochondria connection, manifesting in
molecular changes inside mitochondria of circulating immune cells and both neural and non-
neural cells of the brain, in relation to stress exposure and behavior in humans and mice.
