Meaning Making Machines is a brand-new exhibition coming to Northlight Gallery. Featuring the work of 10 artists from the photography program, Meaning Making Machines celebrates/visualizes the embodiment of the photographic process through the singular practices of a group of student artists. From ideation, execution, development and dissemination, "Meaning Making Machines" revolves around the idea of defining and redefining the concept of the “artist studio” by imagining the space in which photographic images emerge. This is an invitation for the audience to immerse themselves in the world of these student artists as they explore the in-betweenness of their craft. The Photographic Exhibitions course taught by Juan Obando each fall gives students the opportunity to collaboratively curate and install an exhibition in Northlight Gallery at the end of the semester.
