Event description

  • Arts and entertainment
  • Family friendly
  • Open to the public

Join the Labriola Center and ASU Kerr as we celebrate Indigenous music and poetry! We will be hosting the Indigenous musicians and poets from the Welcome to Indian Country tour. Come to meet and enjoy an intimate small performance from the world class five-piece musical ensemble consisting of Delbert Anderson (Diné) – Professional Trumpet player, Nokosee Fields (Osage, Creek and Cherokee Nations) – Indigenous Fiddler, Nicholas Lucero - Indigenous drumset artist, Charly Lowry (Lumbee, Tuscarora) - Professional singer and songwriter, Mali Obomsawin (Abenaki First Nation) - Bassist, composer and songwriter and storyteller, Washington State Poet Laureate, Rena Priest (Lhaq’temish). Together they weave new compositions and songs with witty wise and poignant poetry and satire to honor the elders and ancestors. Their performance unearths the depth, joy and solidarity that Native people find in their community, culture and family.

Light refreshments will be provided!
