You're invited to visit "Nature Imagined," an exhibit at the Polytechnic campus library. On display from June 5 to November 3 during regular library hours.

"Nature Imagined" is a series of paintings by Robert Palmer that explores the beauty and complexity of nature through the lens of memory and imagination. Drawing inspiration from his surroundings, Robert creates landscapes that are more than mere representations of physical spaces; they are visual expressions of his emotions and perceptions of the world around him.

Robert's paintings capture a moment in time, preserving a memory of a place that may no longer exist or has been transformed by time. He removes the figure from his compositions to focus the viewer's attention on the plane, creating a sense of transcendence from imaginative nature to
reality. His paintings are born from ethereal memories, blending representational and expressionistic styles to define nature.

In his recent oil paintings, Robert uses thick layers of paint to capture the mosaic shapes created by the sky, trees, and landscape. He employs a fractured technique to represent the foreground and background, creating a sense of depth and scale. In the Reflections and Sketches of Landscape series, Robert experiments with watercolors to explore the conceptual and expressive possibilities of his art. He uses a dry brush technique overlaid with wet into wet washes to create chaotic marks of transparent and opaque paint on the surface, capturing the grandeur of this world.

Robert graduated summa cum laude from the ASU School of Art with a bachelor's degree in painting. His work has been featured in various publications, and he recently exhibited at the ASU Gammage on the ASU Tempe campus. Through his art, Robert invites the viewer to explore the infinite possibilities of nature and to experience the beauty and wonder of the world around us.
