Non-Event

Event description

  • Campus life
  • Free
  • Inclusion

Sign up and get this on your calendar then when the time comes, do nothing. As the academic year comes to an end, this non-event is a reminder to take time for yourself. It is the human and humane thing to do. Also, it will help you navigate the end of the academic year with a bit more composure. Rather than perform busy-ness, can we act from a place of calm?

Join us for a snack and some down time. The Humanities Institute will have hammocks available if you feel like non-eventing with us.

Recommended (non)reading includes Jenny Odell’s “How to Do Nothing: Resisting the Attention Economy” as well as The Ezra Klein Show podcast episode “Sabbath and the Art of Rest” with Judith Shulevitz author of “The Sabbath World: Glimpses of a Different Order of Time” and a Daoist mediation on the uselessness.

This is a hybrid event hosted by Humanities Institute. For online attendees, Zoom link will be provided before the event.
