Please join us for a historical linguistics presentation by the University of Iceland’s Professor Thórhallur (Tolli) Eythórsson on Tuesday, Apr. 18, 2023 at 2 p.m. Participants can attend in-person on the ASU Tempe campus in Ross-Blakley Hall, room 117, or online via Zoom. The link to attend virtually will be sent upon registration.

Eythórsson explores the syntactic structure of oblique subjects within various Indo-European languages. Eythórsson further inquires on the possibility of oblique subjects in the Proto-Indo-European language, a reconstructed language that was said to have been spoken by ancestors of modern Indo-European languages, before writing was invented.

Sponsored by Regents Professor Elly van Gelderen and the Interdisciplinary Committee on Linguistics with support from the ASU Department of English and its Linguistics, Applied Linguistics and TESOL program.
