“Natwani” is a MFA thesis exhibition by Theo Beatty. This collection of paintings and drawings focuses on the intersections of tradition, food, and technology within the lives of indigenous peoples, primarily Hopi. His work seeks to show the interplay between contemporary indigenous living and communities beyond the reservation. Highlighting the resilience and adaptability of indigenous peoples with focus on traditional practices, building community, and strengthening familial bonds in a rapidly changing world. This exhibition is on display at Harry Wood Gallery on the ASU Tempe Campus from April 1st-11th, 2024, with a reception held on April 2nd, from 5:30- 7:30pm.
