Continental Poetry Marathon for Peace

Event description

  • Arts and entertainment
  • Free
  • Inclusion
  • Open to the public

Do you love poetry and peace? Join participants from across the Americas for the Continental Poetry for Peace Marathon to read works by well-known or lesser-known poets, or share your own poems. You may also sing, dance, rap or present another artistic performance for peace. Works in other languages are welcome.

Under the theme of “Peace,” the subtheme of “Tenderness” acknowledges that we all experience emotional pain and that poetry can help us heal.

The event will feature scheduled programming and open-mic opportunities. Come share your art or enjoy the work of others as an audience member. Poetry will be available for those who would like to participate but do not have a poem to share.

This event will take place in person and via Zoom, allowing participants from other parts of the United States and around the world to join. Free registration is requested.

Made possible by the Hardt-Nickachos Chair in Peace Studies at the Center for the Study of Religion and Conflict, in partnership with Greater Phoenix Women's International League for Peace and Freedom and Local to Global Justice, in association with Fundación Global View Ecuador.
