Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz: A New Light on a Literary Legend
Event description
- Academic events
- Free
Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz is considered as the most significant woman writer and intellectual of the Americas of all times. She interrogated men, women, church figures, saints, God and even herself; wrote lyrical poetry, drama, autobiography as self-defense, philosophical poetry and striking religious works uncomfortable for her times. Both orthodox and secular readings have distorted her heritage; new findings are setting the record straight.
