Speaker Series: 'Our Adventures in Cinema' with Ben Burtt and Craig Barron

Event description

  • Arts and entertainment

The hum of a light saber, the painterly backgrounds of “Star Wars,” the robotic chirp of Pixar’s “WALL-E.” So many details that make the movies you love memorable were created by two men: Ben Burtt and Craig Barron. Burtt, the Oscar-winning sound designer and mastermind behind the sonic landscapes of “Star Wars,” “Indiana Jones” and “E.T.,” is joined by visual effects artist Barron, the creator of striking matte-painted effects for films including “The Empire Strikes Back,” “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and “E.T.,” and winner of the Oscar for Best Visual Effects for “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” The two cinematic tech titans join The Poitier Film School’s Speaker Series for “Our Adventures in Cinema,” sharing rare behind-the-scenes footage and insights from their creative careers in visual and audible special effects to inspire the next generation of filmmakers.
