Spoken Word Workshop with Kamaka Dias

In honor of Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Month Peace Corps at ASU, Peace Corps at ASU, J. Orin Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation Institute, The Virginia Piper Writing Center and ASU Library have partnered up to invite you to join us for a book reading and spoken word workshop with Returned Peace Corps Volunteer Kamaka Dias, where he shares his perspectives on being a Native-Hawaiian living abroad while serving in the Peace Corps. In his memoir "So Far" Kamaka reflects on his experience as a Peace Corps Volunteer promoting Hawaiian culture and American culture, while also figuring out the difference between both.

During this workshop, Kamaka will discuss the importance of celebrating one's full identity and walk students through collaborative writing sessions where students will get to practice their creative writing skills and have the opportunity to perform their work in a safe and comfortable environment. 

Participants will receive a free copy of Kamaka's Peace Corps memoir "So Far", a Peace Corps Swag Bag, and Free Hawaiian Food.
