Event description

A large number of nations, corporations, and universities are working toward net-zero emissions of greenhouse gases and plastics within a few decades. Achieving such goals in a manner that is economically feasible, socially desirable, and ecologically viable is a formidable challenge and an attractive opportunity that is a topic of active research and development.
This symposium will bring together key researchers and stakeholders from academia, industry, and government to provide intellectually stimulating and forward-looking insights on efforts and challenges in addressing this important goal of reaching net-zero emissions. The focus of this symposium will be on the chemicals and materials industry with emphasis on three main themes: electrification, circularity, and integrative approaches. Each day will include keynote and plenary talks by leaders in each theme followed by a panel discussion.
The symposium is organized by the Center for Transitioning to a Net-Zero Chemicals and Materials Industry, The Global Kaiteki Center and Electrified Processes for Industry without Carbon. In addition, the symposium is also supported by the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory under the leadership of Vice President and Vice Provost Peter Schlosser and by the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering under leadership of Dean Kyle Squires.
