Transitions Dance Concert: "Latent Heat"
Event description
- Arts and entertainment
ASU Dance presents the original work of 14 senior undergraduate students in “Transitions: Latent Heat.”
“Latent Heat” is an evocative dance performance that delves into the surge of energy born from personal stories—stories that reveal both the horrors and the beauties of the human experience. Inspired by the scientific concept of latent heat, which refers to the energy released when an object changes phase, this show explores the transformative power of energy—how it is absorbed, released, and exchanged as we move through life’s phases.
Just as latent heat catalyzes a shift in physical states, this production captures the raw emotional energy that propels us forward, particularly as we transition from one phase of life to the next. For the dancers, “Latent Heat” symbolizes the moment of change, from youth to adulthood, from the known to the unknown, from one chapter to the next.
This powerful exchange of energy forms the heart of the show, moving not only between the dancers themselves but also between the dancers and the audience. In this dynamic interaction, each performance becomes a living, breathing experience where energy is shared, felt, and transformed.
Over the course of two weekends, “Latent Heat” will present fourteen distinct dance pieces by ASU senior dance students, each exploring different facets of this energy exchange. Through movement, emotional storytelling and captivating choreography, the dancers will embody the tension, release and transition that defines the human experience. Come witness this journey of transformation as we share, absorb and release the latent energy within us all.
Join us for two unforgettable weekends of movement, emotion and the powerful forces that drive us forward. Each performance features original choreography created by senior undergraduate dance students and performed by ASU dance students.
Tickets must be purchased in advance at the Herberger Institute Box Office. There will be no in-person sales at the event. Guests who do not have a ticket at the door will be directed to purchase them online.
