Presenters:

Dr. Kateryna Ruban"From Decommunization to Decolonization: Ukrainian Public Memory of Wartime”; She has earned a Ph.D. in history from New York University and master’s degrees in history from Central European University (Budapest) and the cultural studies program at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (Kyiv). Her major field of studies encompasses all major topics in Soviet history, with parallel interests in gender, critical theory and Marxism. Dr. Ruban is also keenly concerned with memory politics and urban transformations under capitalism in Ukraine. Working and living in Ukraine and the US, she has published numerous short articles on current political events in both Ukrainian and English.

Dr. Lisa Tolentino is a conceptual artist and interaction designer who has taught at PVCC since 2020. Her focus is on serving vulnerable and underrepresented communities throughout Arizona. As a multidisciplinary artist and instructor, Tolentino teaches digital art courses, game aesthetics and culture classes, as well as a developer and co-teacher in PVCC’s new Science of Musical Instruments class.

This program is in collaboration with International Education at Maricopa Community Colleges and the Melikian Center at Arizona State University.
