Uninvited Guests Exhibition

Event description

  • Arts and entertainment

This exhibition by Interdisciplinary Arts and Performance faculty alejandro t. acierto shares new and ongoing photographs, time-based works, and sculptural pieces that consider the environmental consequences of urban expansion in the fragile ecosystems of the desert. Amidst the backdrop of urban sprawl that migrates outwards and upwards in a parasitic fashion, this work highlights the meshwork of subterranean (under)commons that continue to experience a different kind of metropolitan degradation. Focused on the expansive infrastructures built by non-humans, this installation asks: How might we imagine the invisible, the hidden, or the unseen as a way to understand this important moment while we have the opportunity to build different relationships with the land? How can we invite alternative methods of building that care for the needs of life before expansion?
