Veterans Voices: Playing for Keeps—Exploring Gaming with Veterans

Come and join us for an exhilarating gaming day!

This event offers both in-person and webinar participation. The in-person segment will take place at the ASU eSports lounge, situated at Stauffer Communications B-Wing, Room B103 on the first floor, 950 S Forest Mall, Tempe, AZ, 85281. We've teamed up with Regiment Gaming to present this thrilling tournament, offering you the opportunity to compete alongside veterans from across the nation.

Joining us for our panel is a group of four veteran speakers who specialize in gaming
realms:
● Ray Kimball, EdD, Chief Executive Officer of 42 Educational Games Coaching and Design
● Sebastian J. Bae, senior game designer and research scientist at the Center for Naval Analyses
● Dr. Megan Connell, author of Tabletop Role-Playing Therapy: the Guide for the Clinician Game Master
● Lt Col James “Pigeon” Fielder, Ph.D., USAF (ret.) political scientist at Colorado State University, researching emergent political behavior in-game worlds

Following the panel, we'll host a live online bracket-style Fortnite tournament. Simultaneously, there will be a Minecraft micro tournament in creative mode – a Build-off for an ASU logo. Prizes are available for raffles, as well as top prizes for gaming.

On-campus attendees can participate using the 30 MacBooks provided by the eSports Lounge. Meanwhile, in a spacious classroom nearby, tabletop games such as wargaming and Dungeons and Dragons will be available.

There's something for everyone, and to sweeten the deal, we're offering free food! Join us for an enjoyable afternoon of gaming and engaging discussions on the benefits of gaming for the veteran community.
