This research talk presents a collaborative, large-scale training initiative designed to address racial disproportionality in Arizona’s child welfare system, where Black children experience persistent overrepresentation at multiple decision points. Developed through a partnership between the Arizona Department of Child Safety and the Center for Child Well-Being within the School of Social Work, the training centers on culturally grounded, empathic engagement and trauma-responsive practice.
