A tradition at Arizona State University’s West campus that dates back to 1991, reaching middle school students, members of the ASU community and the public to celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. and to understand the history-changing 1963 March on Washington. This in-person event will include educational presentations about the history of the civil rights movement, a musical program and an inspirational rendition of the “I Have a Dream” speech by ASU faculty member Charles St. Clair.

Thursday, Feb. 2; Monday–Thursday, Feb. 6–9, 13–16 and 2023: “This is Too Much (A Black History Month Event)”: 12 p.m.–5 p.m.–ArtSpace West

The Academies of South Mountain High School present this juried installation of student work that has a lot to say about the world they inherited. While they often need to share their frustration about this world, at other times, these students want to forget about all the chaos and celebrate the beauty and joy they experience as well. This exhibit is reflective of both of these sentiments.
