With the rise of GLP-1 medications like Ozempic and Wegovy, many are asking how nutrition fits into the picture. In this timely session led by Nutrition Science graduate students from the College of Health Solutions, we’ll explore how these medications work, how they affect appetite and metabolism and what dietary strategies support long-term health and sustainable weight management. Learn about the role of fiber, protein and nutrient density in maintaining energy, satiety, and muscle mass. You’ll also learn practical meal-planning tips for everyday life.

The new year has begun. Join the Health Impact Program and earn $25–$200 for taking care of yourself. This voluntary program enables you to take action, track progress and earn points as you strive toward better health. ASU Employee Wellness program manager Liz Badalamenti will walk you through the steps to earn points toward your goal. This year, participants must log at least 12,500 points per quarter to be eligible for an incentive. All benefits-eligible state employees can participate.

If the public funds science and gives it autonomy to govern itself, then benefits such as economic growth, innovation, and national security will follow “almost automatically.” This unwritten social contract was long thought to underpin policymakers’ relationship to the scientific enterprise, but the administration’s cuts to science funding and mass federal agency layoffs suggest the pact’s days are over.
