The ASU Community is invited to learn more about urban gardening at the ASU Garden Commons located at the Polytechnic Campus. Garden Commons maintains a community garden with 16 raised beds and and orchard with over 20 fruit trees.
During the volunteer event participants will help with miscellaneous garden tasks including planting, harvesting, weeding, compost and seed starting.
Arizona State University benefits-eligible employees can get a 30-minute health screening. Several tests, including readings on cholesterol, blood pressure and triglycerides, are available free of charge.
Other tests are available for as low as a $20 copay. Cash, check, MasterCard or Visa are accepted. Bring your ASU ID and health insurance cards.
Spring is here! Come and learn more about starting a Spring garden in the Phoenix area. We will discuss what vegetables, flowers, and herbs grow best in the spring and tips for getting your garden started. We will share some of our excess seeds to get you started with growing your own garden.
Program will include a tour of Garden Commons and what we have growing.

The Sustainability Tour highlights several “Sustainability Points of Pride” that exemplify ASU’s effort to incorporate the principles of sustainability into its physical and academic environment.
Learn about the development of “combat close air support” and hear personal stories from Retired Brigadier General Tom Webster, a former A-10 and F-16 pilot in the US Air Force. Hear about how this mission-critical process evolved through engagement in World War I and World War II and honed in the Korean War and the Vietnam War to become a key component of today’s air-land battle team.
This event is part of Teaching Professor Valerie Adams’ aviation speaker series in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts.
At 17 years old, Caroline Kilgore began work at a factory that built the wings for the C-47 aircraft during the Second World War. Today, in her late 90s, she is as sharp as ever and shares her story to preserve the history of the efforts of American women during WWII. You are invited to this special opportunity to meet one of the millions of women who answered the country's call to war on the home front.
